The UNSW Laboratory Hazardous Waste Disposal Procedure must be used by all UNSW facilities and operations where hazardous substances are used for research or teaching. It includes chemical waste (solids, liquids and gases), infectious and biological hazardous waste, general laboratory waste, glass, sharps, radioactive wastes and other hazardous liquids and materials.

Environment Protection Authority (EPA) licensed contractors are used to transport contaminated waste to an appropriate service sites for treatment and disposal or destruction in accordance with EPA requirements.
The OHS and Workers Compensation Unit coordinates the disposal of all hazardous and contaminated wastes, requests for waste pick-up should be made on the appropriate Biological, Chemical or Radiation waste forms below.
