The UNSW StaySafe app is being replaced by a new app called SafeZone

SafeZone, the recently launched UNSW Security and Wellbeing app, is now available for you to download via the App Store or Google Play.  As part of our transition plan, SafeZone will gradually replace StaySafe through 2024.

Working after hours and working alone, increases the risk of certain hazards due to the reduction of immediate assistance in the event of an incident.

All after hours access must be approved by your supervisor.

Hazards

  • Walking to and from your vehicle/ transport alone or in the dark.
  • Poor/No emergency response.
  • Fatigue.

Precautions / controls

  • Use well-lit areas like the university walk to access car/bus.
  • Try to walk in groups or pairs.
  • UNSW Security Services has a comprehensive 24 hour security presence on campus and maintains security monitoring services for the university.
  • Download the StaySafe@UNSW app.
  • Use free Security Shuttle Bus Service.
  • Inform another person when you are due to finish/arrive home so they can raise the alarm if you do not.
  • An employee can work a maximum of 38 ordinary hours in a week.
